i use sewing pins for my antennas. ( the pins that hold the fabric together)

Dropping the sprue in an acetone bath, like nail polish removed, will soften the sprue as well, but not as fast.

For this purpose, the flame is great. Hope you have a respirator when melting!

A thought just hit me... Melting a blob of styrene, rolling it into a sheet, pressing it against a car door panel or other portion of the car, will give yo an impression of it which, while drying could be distorted into fender bender-grade 'collision damage'. All kind of warped and distorted but still the car panel it represents. Dunno. I'll have to try it myself on a space ship at some point.

Working with Sprue & The Repurposing of it is a "Art Form" in itself from within the Styrene Modelers World. This super plentiful. Source of plastic is a Hidden Gold Mine

The 2 Scale Auto Model builder books I'll be waiting will each have a Chapter dedicated to What to Do with the Mountain of Sprue we can and often do accumulate during build process of our models

Some Grate it carefully using finest n smallest cheese Grater to turn it into fine chunks for BLENDING with liquid Cement for homemade filler putty made from same plastic as model they're building

Stretched pieces Work great as Gap fillers by using Liquid Cement applies 2X to both Sides of Gap. Then making sure contact area of filler piece has 2X applied to it just before it's set in place thus works awesome

Let it dry Completely before moving to Sanding, shaping or puttying area . Great Results happen

For my 41 Plymouth I'm going to try building 2 stock 41 Plymouth. Carter BB ine barrel carbs better than kit piece to make a Twin mold custom Carb n intake like old school Rodder would have done

Later I'm going to try my hand at making Scale Custom figurines From Sprue too
