Also, remember the crimson king and white queen of alchemy. A duality of opposites melding into something divine. A holy duo. The statues in enir'illim show two cloaked figures embracing and being entwined together by a spiral, the crucible..

I think its just been so long that the bodies at the gate have turned to stone as many crumble when stepped on.

Miyazaki already told us that the shadowlands were part of the lands between and were veiled.

The Jars and Shaman flesh being so malleable really fit into the Golden Order's core tenet that is the Law of Regression. All things yearn to converge into One.

I do speak Japanese and I agree, shaman is a bit misleading.巫女 is not a shaman necessarily and not only does it have a female connotation, the second kanji character that forms this word literally says "woman." Btw, when Varre calls you "maidenless" he literally says 巫女無し, without a Miko. A Miko is sometimes translated just as maiden., not as "shaman" I think due to the translation english speakers are assuming the "shaman" are a race like the "hornsent" (horn people 角人)but that is not what should be expressed here

Mesmer's Crusade against the Hornsent takes place surprisingly late in the timeline, as Gaius is mentioned as a friendly rival of Radahn when they learned gravity sorcery. And though it is kinda vaguely worded its also mentioned in his remembrance that both Gaius and Mesmer "were as elder brothers to the lion" (presumably Radahn).

Rellana's presence could reinforce this too as should would have to know Mesmer prior to the Crusade even if only from afar.

Maybe the area is no longer red to show time has passed though I also like the idea the gate was already there before Marika

As far as the name shaman goes I think it's just a lost in translation deal, but you can just think about it the way colonists referred to all the different native tribes here in America as Indians. Maybe the hornsent didn't care that they called themselves numen, too busy stuffing them into jars

The spiral imagery that we are beaten around the head with is extremely interesting. I think more accurately, it's helical imagery rather than spiral (3d as opposed to 2d).

The reason it's so interesting is that, if you look at the Godslayer's Greatsword for example, you can see that it consists of one helical side rotating clockwise, and by necessity, another side rotating anti-clockwise. The 'sword', that is the object, is a combination of true and anti rotating pieces. Without one, you'd have no Godslayer's Greatsword. They are each complementary parts which form a labelled whole.

Now, if we accept that 'Marika' was put into a jar by the Hornsent (I will put her name in inverted commas), and that Marika (NOT in inverted commas) came out and was revered, then who was the complementary half? We know that it was Radagon. Their Scar/Soreseals reinforce the complementarity.

So out comes Marika/Radagon and she calls/is called Marika. But Marika as she emerges from the pot consists of both 'Marika' and 'Radagon' i.e. the two things/people put into the pot.

I think there's clearly a way for 'Marika' and 'Radagon' to split or fracture from this new Marika, possibly by Maria's design, or by Radagon's insistence.

So "Marika is Radagon" is completely true. They're complementary parts, and are both valid labels because they were melded in the pot. I don't believe that people outside the Shadow Realm would know this. However, clearly, Goldmask and the Sculptor did. Oh and Corhyn, though he chooses not to believe it

I think Shaman is a pretty decent translation of a shrine maiden. Both are religious guides of their community with a focus on spirituality and bettering the lives of those who follow their teachings. Shaman lends a bit more power to it as they could also serve as leaders of the tribe as a whole if the need arises and I don’t think shrine maidens would ever really have that much power. But shaman conveys much more of a focus on helping community and spiritualism than witch or priestess does in my opinion

When i hear word pronouncedas "Shay-men" my mind goes to a Grass type Pokemon who looks like a little green Hedgehog
This is why i pronounce it as "Shar-men" because my go to thought then is Shaman King, with the comuning with spirits and what not

The Suppressing Pillar seems to exist just to tell us the Shadow Lands are the center of the Lands Between. It's pretty blatant.

The Japanese text doesn't actually say Numen, as you have it written out onscreen though, does it? You mentioned the word doesn't appear anywhere in the DLC, so I'm just curious.

And it seems like the Hornsent, or at least the inquisition, is strongly opposed the Flame of Frenzy. It would be strange if their jar rituals had anything to do with it, in my opinion.

Eldon Ring has always been a hard one to sort through.

I think you made a mistake; I think the Shamans are put whole in the jars while the criminals are chopped up. This is based on every saint blob having a complete saint body with body part blobs attached.

Why would u use multiple numen for a pot? Makes no sense since we’re potting them to meld together. That is they already meld together with non-numen, so no need to use only numen. That would make the others they chopped up useless

I think it was a mistake to translate Marika’s people being “Shaman” in the DLC, because it confuses them with the Ancestral Followers’s Shaman.
They should have stuck with the Numen terminology.
