Imagine having just two voices and an acoustic guitar, and be able to make half a million people go completely quiet, and just listen. That`s a talent very few people have

No auto tune, fireworks, - just pure voices, harmonies and poetry. Paul Simon won the Gershwin Songwriting Award.

One of the most beautiful songs in history. Unpretentious, telling a story and sung in beautiful harmony

I love how they harmonize like no one else and yet you can still hear their individual voices

Your analysis is, as usual, diamond cutter sharp and on point. You've got a good head on your shoulders, an internet rarity. It's a pleasure to watch.

"Hello darkness, my old friend." In my 70's I still get goosebumps.

That performance was live in front of a crowd of over 500, 000 people in Central Park
I was mesmerized from start to finish .
Art ‘s solo of Bridge of Troubled Water is one of the greatest live vocal performances of all time.

Hearing this as a child all those years ago...the feel and the power was huge yet delicate. We all got it and we never forgot it.

I've heard Paul say that Art was given a producing credit early on so the imbalance in their contributions didn't seem so stark. Fair enough, but I've always thought his delicate, crystalline vocals already played a huge part in bringing Simon's amazing lyrics to life. It's not said enough, but Garfunkel was a great singer with a real depth of feeling that needn't be bolstered by paper tributes.

I’ve always loved Simon and Garfunkel, but Garfunkel’s angelic voice always gives me goosebumps, and brings tears to my eyes.

Paul Simon, is an incredible songwriter, singer, musician, producer, etc. Art complimented his voice with his harmony. I'm lucky to have walked the Earth the same time as these two humans. I've seen them both perform "live" together and apart. Never a disappointment! Thanks Fil!

Art can literally sing like this with one hand behind his back...or in a pocket..like he isn't even trying! Amazing!

Look out on the audience, this is a moment that transcends time and even the performers themselves. When the audience is so enraptured, they have gone beyond transfixed, they have become part of the performance, part of the experience. I have no doubt that every single person there that night remembers every note, every word and probably still feels the warmth of the breeze on their faces as they think back and smile. Truly brilliant!

They have such a rich sound you could think that there are more than two voices. Just amazingly beautiful.

I hate we don't have music like this anymore, our culture has went down so much. Love these guys!!! Thanks Fil!

Fil -- How do you remember such astounding detail and talk so knowledgeably about such a wide range of artists -- along with technical info, backstory, history of the artist, etc. -- without the benefit of notes? You remind me of every favorite teacher I've ever had -- and I was lucky to have plenty. You are easy to listen to, and everything you say ties together in a cohesive manner, and is riveting. Respect!

I was at this show in Central Park. It was just soooo great. The secret recipe for pleasing a large or huge crowd--lots of great songs, all hits (very tough to do) and great musicianship.

Their voices blend perfectly; Simon is generally an 'earthy' singer with a pleasant texture. Garfunkel's voice is either strong or gentle and really cuts through regardless of what modality he's in.

It doesn't get any better than this and they don't make'em like that anymore.

When the video cuts to the people in the crowd you can see that it was largely a 30ish to 20's crowd who were teens or in college or even grammer school when the songs were first out there.

So until this concert happened, the songs, firmly set as milestones in the past, but performed ever so perfectly in that moment, gave a generation and a half a huge lesson in (for lack of better words) nostalgia's impact, while we were still quite young. I doubt anybody there ever imagined that they would be seeing this somewhere down the road in their lifetime.

It was an unforgettable autumn night in the city with about 500, 00 other folks and this pin drop moment is an excellent choice for a review.
