Original airdate: 6/24/2019 | Good Samaritans decided to dig deep to help a homeless woman living out of a car at a Walmart parking lot.

"She told me the vehicle was out of gas, she had no food, no money and the car battery was dead also," said Tilden Township Police Officer Jordan Heckman.

Two Walmart employees who'd been concerned about the woman called Heckman to the Walmart Friday evening. They said the woman had been there for two weeks.

Heckman and the employees decided to reach into their own pockets to buy her food. Heckman didn't stop there. With the help of the Salvation Army, he got the woman off the street and into a hotel for a few days.

"She was very thankful for what we did," said Heckman. "She kept saying 'thank you thank you thank you.'"

69 News wanted to reach out to the two Walmart employees. Officials say neither of them could be reached in time for news; one actually left the company on Friday.

Surprised. Usually they would have just thrown the person in jail. Other cops should take a hint from this.

Wish everyone would get that treatment. I had a flat tire at Speedway and had a officer come asking me questions looking all in my car and ask me if I had ID he ran my background as the toe truck is picking my vehicle up, just to say moments after you're good to go.
