It does help somebody, thanks bro,

I just ran into this situation where the old esxi in the office is actually in a tower case server which takes space and not really a server spec, and we just bought a real small microserver to optimize space on the rack and enjoy more server specs, and would like to move a DC and another docker linux vm from the old esxi to a newly setup one.

Tutorials in the net had a wide range of variety of tools, some are outdated, some do not have clear flow of steps

Your video just made it simple and clear

Nice! I’ve used this tool in the past to convert a physical server into a VM in my lab. Didn’t know you can also use it to simply migrate a VM from one host over to another, but it does make sense and it’s nice because you can change a lot of vm settings in the process.

Damn this is so awesome! Says about an hour for 20 gb plus the extra 20 gb I added on as it was running low. I only watched part of the video and got it figured out. I didn't know this tool worked like that. I'm hoping I can use it to convert physical machines like my xserve or something over to a vm. Was going to run freenas on my r710 but I might have to stick with esxi

Thanks man - really helped me
Quick question does vcenter server require its own license?

So, use VCenter would be quicker then, but without vCenter, you either:

- download to local machine and upload to new host (or)
- use Standalone converter..

either way, it will take longer, but there the only ways? Can this be done on over 2TB (i.e file server)? I imagine so, because I think vMWare has 2TB issue or they don't recommend it.. But I don't have vCenter, file capacity not an issue. (expect the time taken)

You could then say Standalone convert would stil e better, as u just set it up and and leave it...

Thank you so much for this video, much appreciated. BTW Four screens. I have three at work (two monitors and one in my laptop) and I wouldn't know where to put the fourth one :').

Can you use this converter when using shared SAN storage?

Thanks for posting this video. Does the converter leave a copy of the vm's on the original host? Or does it move them without leaving behind the original vm files?

Question, does the vm have to remain off during the copy process?
