We Bought a Hurricane Beryl Damaged Catamaran

Yes, there's a container on top of it. Hurricane Beryl smashed it against the hull and blew it on top of it. It's a Maxim 380, 38 ft Catamaran.

365 days I crewed on sailboats from San Diego, USA all the way down to Panama, stopping in Mexico and Costa Rica. After Panama crossing the Pacific Ocean to New Zealand stopping at islands like the Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia, Tonga and Fiji

45 days I traveled through New Zealand from the Northernmost point to the Southernmost point, then

100 days I traveled by motorbike through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, then

365 days I traveled in my self-built campervan from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, then

365 days I traveled with this van through Iran and Pakistan, then

180 days I built an off-grid log cabin in the woods in Spain, then

180 days I restored an old sailboat in Guatemala, then

365 days I traveled with this sailboat from Guatemala to Honduras, Cuba, Jamaica, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Grenada and more islands in the East Caribbean

Have been following you since the start. Was so happy when you met your girlfriend and she started with you. The videos got better and better. So much information and so much seeing the two of you growing together. I am disappointed that in this video however, you did not tell us how this all came about, how you discovered the catamaran and why the owner wanted to unload her. This is what makes it impressive more, is the history. We went from Trinidad and Tobago to a boat yard where the hurricane hit. If you do not want to share the story, then that is ok. Take your time on this boat and do it right. Get her ready first for going back in the water, and after you have her on anchor or mooring ball you can do cosmetic work slowly and the right way and save yard costs. Just do it right so she will last you both many years to come and you can finally leave the Caribbean and travel the world in more comfort and much more room and safer conditions. A 2003 38' owner's version Maxim catamaran. They were built from 1999 to 2007 (bus closed) so this is right in the middle of production run. Corecell used in above water laminates so no wet balsa issues. 27 hp Yamars w saildrives. Reasonable headroom and good sailing performance. Only issue is some bridgedeck slamming going into choppy seas due to just avg clearance. Should be ok to sail around world and hope not too much damage, great that the mast and rigging is up. Should be little water damage as it was on hard. Good luck with the renovation.
