We made a waterfall before and packed the smaller rocks with a bunch of clay that we dug up. Then put a large flat stone in the middle to create a nice waterfall..It's still holding up after 3 years.

I like the idea of a simple built. Have you thought about severe rain. I think with a plank system could maintain a productive environment, could save you on rebuilds. Be Free

I did something similar to run a ram pump off of. Worked great until a heavy rainstorm and washed the dam out. After the 3rd rebuild I said F it.

What was the point of building it? Were you aware of what effect the dam might have downstream or how it would affect erosion of the banks long-term before you buit it or were you just trying to show how easy it is to build one?

I would think you need to get permission from the local DNR

Did you consider your native fish that require migration up and down the creek to sustain the population?

I must say, young boys are part beaver, we see running water, and want to put a dam in the way.

Needs a let so animals can get through and it will stop it for being destroyed by heavy rainfall
