On 25 September 2024, Singapore experienced its worst MRT breakdown. A simple train fault on the East-West Line spiralled into chaos, crippling 9 stations and leaving a trail of destruction. As engineers raced against time to repair extensive damage, one question looms large: how did a routine malfunction escalate into a full-blown crisis?

This is not a train breakdown alone. It was compounded by negligence which could have been avoided. The aftermath is very telling.

Oh, we should not over maintain the train so we can save money. See what happen now? Transport minister should resign or sacked.

Lawrence wong: greeting singaporean. Thank you all for your patience. The transport minister and his team have been working tirelessly to fix the new cracks. His face begins to turn red and cry 😮 😦, 😢, 😭 vs Sigma 😮, 😀, 😙. He is the only emotional PM in singapore. Hahahaha 😂

TRAINS BREAKING DOWN IS EXPECTED IN A TPT SYSTEM BUT SUCH MAJOR BREAK DOWN SHOWS POOR PREVENTIVE MAINTEANCE, REGULAR INSPECTION NOT DONE PROPERLY N SUPERVISION IS POOR WITH TOP MGT NOT BEING AWARE OF IT. THE TOP MGT MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AS THEY DRAW HIGH PAY. GOVT MUST TAKE ACTION NOW😊😂🤣😅😆😄😁

Mr Wong, it's about time you fired your minister of transport. There's a BIG underlying issue with your manager. Pure Ignorance and incapable, no grey matter. First failure in the SimplyGo project and now what, MRT disruption. 😅. This is a very serious matter.

I saw online somewhere that the majority of the earnings go to higher levels, compromise credentials and qualifiers of staffs and new recruits even outsourcing companies, and look down on shave on headcount, welfare and benefits of ops and ground staffs

My question is, if trains can be kept running even after 35 years, why do cars have to renew COE after 10?

This is just tip of the iceberg, Singapore’s public infrastructure and healthcare are going to collapse if it continues to increase its population because of its limited space.

They will never take this seriously until people start to die and they get sue! The same thing happened before with the barrier on the Train Platform, there used to be no barrier on all the above ground platform, people keep falling off the platform on to the track and die, SMRT kept saying it's not cost effective and all sort of technical difficulty, until they got sue by one angry parent! And suddenly all the technical difficulty disappeared!

Poor attitude maintenance is the root cause of most train breakdowns When come to checklist and scheduled maintenance just tick in the square and no action taken. It is a blessing these kind of poor maintenance don't happen in air transportation plane may come crashing down

Don’t blame the fault on the machine. Is the humans who operate and monitor it and not the machine operating the overpaid staff.

For the info of foreigners, the Singapore subway network has been managed by various ex-army generals for the past 14 years. The burning question many Singaporeans are asking is “what the #$@* does an army officer know about running a train network?”

This is the train equivalent of a wheel falling off a bus right in the middle of PIE and allowing that wheel to roll for another 500m while other motorists try to avoid it. You really wonder what is going on with their maintenance regime 😂
