Tommy knows his son is gonna be to smart for that life without a doubt. Being able to say that at such a young age must be very eye opening to Tommy. Then Tommy agrees with him, lucky Lizzie is gonna take care of him

I can see the pain. What a good actor. He didn't even expressed it with his voice. Just the eyes says everything. But it's so subtle.

You look in his eyes and you know that his soul just died from the terrible price he just paid for his son's future well being.

You can see the Pain in Toms eyes, He lost Grace and now his son wants to leave... i mean understandably, cuz Tom is away most of the time but.. damn.. It makes me cry :c
