Don't forget that the terms for being Governor of Illinois usually involve prison terms after leaving office.

Congratulations on getting your citizenship man! My father is a Mexican immigrant and became a citizen in 1996. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen to this day. 100 people in a giant courtroom in downtown Chicago from different backgrounds. At the end they all did the pledge of allegiance and the judge hit them with "Congratulations you are all citizens of The United States of America!" The vibes in that room were unreal

I once got called for jury duty, and the announcement and roll call lady told the story of a recently minted US citizen who had been called to serve a few weeks earlier. When she called out his name, he opened the door of the quiet room, with a big smile on his face, and said loudly, "I'm here, and I'm ready to serve!"

I'm so thrilled that you're now an American. Congratulations!

Congratulations on becoming a citizen. My mother came from England and became a citizen as soon as she was able. When people heard her accent and questioned her status, she proudly stated ... I'm a citizen by choice.

It makes me so proud as a naturally born citizen to see wonderful people like yourself becoming a citizen. It’s great to see your excitement for your new found liberties and rights under the law that we Americans so often take for granted. Good for you and great for our country to have you.

Congratulations fellow American. Awesome to see someone take pride in their new country and even use it to make content for those who wanna learn about the differences between USA and UK.

I have a friend named Maria who comes from El Salvador. She once told me that her only dream since being a child was to move to America and become an American. Well, about 3 years ago she got her citizenship. She worked very hard for years to get it and I couldn't be more proud of her. She has her own taxi business and is doing very well with her American Dream.
Edited to add, I love the way you waffle on!

As someone who just served as a juror on a trial for the first time, don’t avoid service. It’s a very enlightening experience. It isn’t fun, but it’s absolutely worth doing.

Even if you get called for Jury Duty, you may not end up getting called into the Jury Selection process and even then, if you do, you may not get selected for the Jury. I'm sure there's some procedural differences from circuit to circuit and district to district but for me, I sat in a room for several hours waiting to find out if I would even need to enter the courtroom, then I was called, walked in, sat down and was immediately dismissed for reasons I'll never know. Very weird experience. xD

It's odd. I'm always overjoyed when I hear about someone getting their citizenship to the point where I kinda tear up. My parents retired from the US Air Force in the 90s, and I retired from the USAF 2 years ago so I think it's knowing how valuable citizenship is that gets to me. I'm so happy for you; welcome to the U.S. extended family.

Laurence you have said so many good things about the U.S. for so long now. I am so happy for you, and it is wonderful to see this happen for you! Few deserve it more than you do! I think it is also neat that you get to keep your home country as well. Best wishes on all your future endeavors! God bless you and yours! Cheers!😇

Welcome, fellow American! That's a bit of America I've always loved. My family's been here for almost 400 years (1635, on the 2nd trip of the Mayflower) and yet you're as much an American as I am! I love it! Glad to see your first video of the New Year, too!

I have been summoned for jury duty many times and actually served on juries four times. The last time was particularly touching because during jury selection we had a young man explain that he had just received his U.S. citizenship and when he got his jury summons shortly afterwards, he couldn't believe it. He was from a country that had very ugly corruption issues and he had always thought the stories of Joe Average U.S. citizens participating in the legal system were clearly untrue. The poor man was in tears, he was so happy. It gave me a very different opinion of my civic duties as a citizen.

I’ve met brand new US citizens who were way more enthusiastic about being on jury duty than most native born US citizens. Congratulations on finally being eligible to serve. 😁

As a fellow Englishman I have to say, congratulations for finally being an American citizen mate. 👍

Based on my experience helping others study for their citizenship tests, I believe you can probably answer some history questions that people born here are unable to answer.

Congratulations! As a U.S. expat dual citizen living overseas I understand the challenges you've had to overcome to reach this point.
