I've seen this behaviour come "naturally" to some people, where negotiations are almost second nature to them. My father-in-law, for example, is really good at this, but it's unlikely that he's able to articulate what he does.

I'm really grateful to people like Naval that break it down for people like myself, the "non-naturals", who learn better with these sorts of methodical, almost mathematical explanations.

Keeping it real I see. That's right, in short term games the cheater always wins, so you have to turn them into repeat games to keep the cheaters (most people) semi-honest in hopes of bigger rewards.
