Madden NFL 23 Review

Madden fans will tell you that it hasn’t been a great decade for EA’s football sim. Like the NFL itself, the profits have continued to grow, but the product has suffered. Madden NFL 23, though, provides a glimpse of a light at the end of the tunnel with a handful of smart enhancements to animations, AI, and passing mechanics that make subtle but meaningful improvements to the moment-to-moment football on the field. To be clear, Madden still has a long way to go to catch up with other sports sims, the majority of which are more refined, less buggy, and have a clearer identity. After playing Madden NFL 23, though, I finally have a little optimism that it’s on the right path — maybe not an emphatic “Boom!”, but clear forward progress for a series that so desperately needs it.

When we think of NFL 2k we remember the halftime show with highlights from your game and around the league, the sideline interviews. The ability to have your players do pilates or run drills in your franchise mode. The pre-game tailgating, cheerleaders, real crowd reactions, REAL WEATHER Effects . … so it’s amazing that in 2023 Madden hasn’t come close to this none of this, but are still fixing tackling and throwing mechanics. And can’t give us a decent career mode, do anyone remember “the crib” in 2k! …If it comes to Xbox and PSN games pass I’ll play it. But again EA you won’t be getting my $70 this year.

If you needed any further proof that IGN has lost all credibility....giving a Madden game a 7/10 for "stepping in the right direction" in 2022 should seal the deal

IGN’s review of EA and Madden 23, does not match a 7/10. Reviewers weren’t generous with their ratings on CyberPunk. Madden is protected by smoke and mirrors every year. It’s pathetic.
