This is a review for the Xbox Series X version of Madden NFL 23 using the 10 hour gamepass free trial. I will not be buying this game. It's better than 22, which means nothing. It's still a terrible game. 3/10.

Guys, there are a TON of spam bots in these comments pretending to be me. I do not have a Telegram. I am not giving away PS5s. Do not fall for these bots, everyone. I am trying my best to delete and report every bot account I see pretending to be my channel

I know you might be getting tired of talking about madden every year since its always bad, but thank you for acknowledging the low quality that this franchise has reached.

I saw the Eras Mode being added in NBA2K and I was blown away, imagine something like that in any other sports game where you can re-write history. I'll say this, that had to take a couple years to develop behind the scenes and that alone just shows the difference between 2K & EA. EA makes excuses on why things aren't in the game, while 2K on the same consoles are doing more. MLB The Show has a stadium creator and yet in Madden we get stuck with generic stadiums that we can't even customize. When 2K introduced Relocation into Franchise, they went all out and didn't half ass it like EA did. Simply put, the executives at EA just don't care, I do think the devs care about making a great game but constantly get shot down by the executives and won't allow the devs to do more than just a couple features here and there each year causing EA to lose devs like Ian Cummings and Rex Dickson who wanted Madden to be so much more. The Sim license needs to be opened period.

EA knows exactly what they're doing. Adding features requires labor. Labor costs money. Shiny new graphics and marketing is what attracts customers. They have a monopoly on NFL gaming and they're exploiting the $hit out of it.

I started playing Madden in 1992. I've played every year's title since then. This guy is 100% correct. Most people don't realize how bad the game is because they either never played Madden when it was good and/or never played the 2k football series. The only way we will ever get another amazing NFL football game is when the exclusive license is no longer owned by EA. There is a very, very good chance this will never happen.

Disagree that EA have no idea what they're doing. They know exactly what they're doing - no effort yet stacking up millions of dollars on sales of this game each and every year. It's (sadly) quite genius.

If they're taking steps in the right direction, it's one step at a time and they're miles away from where they need to be.

2K has its own issues, but having the depth of presentation that it has makes it 1000x better than madden.

Honestly not surprised. Tbh the NFL needs to let someone else handle their games cause this is ridiculous

Least surprising moment of every August. A "new" crap EA NFL game. I'm not calling it Madden. Too disrespectful to the man.

The younger generation that’s buying and playing this is being conditioned by EA to believe this is great. They have no idea how much more content used to be in these games. As the graphics have become so realistic we’ve lost gameplay quality and in game features.

I actually haven’t ever thought about madden like this. Pretty wild to imagine how good this game could possibly be. Didn’t really click with me until you mentioned the atmosphere during the games. Madden could be so cool. Unfortunate that EA blows

The NFL is absolutely complicit in the downfall of its licensed video games because it doesn’t care about the product. It cares solely about the *revenue*, which MUT inarguably boosts. MUT is where the money’s at, once you hook people into dropping cash on the game itself.

I would argue that it’s not just the lack of competition, but the dramatically increased reliance and focus on MUT and post-purchase revenue that has walled this once-great franchise into an inescapable corner.

The "new" passing system is also just an updated version of precision passing on Madden 06. The problem with it in 06 was that the user had to manipulate the QBs field of vision with the right stick, then direct the pass. The QB field of vision was also dictated by QB you were using. So, Peyton Manning could basically see the whole field at any time, but Michael Vick only had a sliver of the field in his view which required almost impossibly precise user skill. If your starter was injured... luckily, you could turn off precision passing.

I just want to say that 2k's "era's" seem awesome and it personally reminds me of 2k12's mode that was like this but the fact that last gen gets no love sucks

the fact they plastered a dead man's face and creepy half-finished character model all over this blatant scam is actually approaching evil.

The man loved football, and the people that make Madden clearly don't care about it outside of how cool the players can look in graphics that have 0 effect on the game.

Honestly, I checked out of Madden after 2005 . I was shocked back in 2014 when I finally bought a playstation 4 and played Madden 2015 . Outside of graffics, it was no where near as good as the PS2 maddens and NFL 2k5. I'm an older offline franchise guy. These games are not for me

It’s really disappointing (but not surprising) that EA produced another let down in the series, but it’s terrible that nothing spectacular was done for the first game in the series after the death of the legend the series name comes from. John Madden would be so disappointed in the lack of innovations that Madden has continued to put out- the franchise needs a serious wake up. Sorry Coach 😭

I know you’re tired of reviewing madden but thank you for being a voice for the franchise community. I grew up with sports games before online play existed so franchise modes in madden, 2k, fifa etc hold a special place in my heart

I was playing madden in the early 90’s and my friends and I used to look forward to every single game…we all stopped playing around 13. It became too focused on opening packs….I used to play years and years or franchise… I remember when they first started actually saying created players names(is that gone?)….it’s crazy how many things are gone that were even in the ps1 version…
