This simple action has the power to transform your entire existence, but only if you know the secret behind it.

The correct way of doing Nadi Shodhana (aka, Nadi Shuddhi) pranayama is as follows, with the caveat that heart patients SHOULD NOT attempt to do this or any pranayama for that matter.

-1. REMEMBER TO SIT STRAIGHT AND COMFORTABLY. TRY NOT TO BEND BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER INHALATIONS, EXHALATIONS OR HOLDING BREATH.
0. MAKE SURE YOU ARE DOING ABDOMINAL BREATHING ONLY DURING PRANAYAMA. Meaning, while inhaling your abdomen/stomach bulges out like a balloon and while exhaling, your abdomen/stomach empties out air like a punctured balloon.
1. Close your left nostril with your ring and pinkie fingers with your middle and index fingers folded and then exhale out with your right nostril. REMEMBER ABDOMINAL BREATHING. This process is called SHUNYATHA.
2. Now close your right nostril with your thumb, release your left nostril and breath in with your left nostril while counting 1, 2, 3, 4 (for beginners…later with practice, you increase gradually over a 6 month timeframe, to count till 12). Make sure your mouth remains closed. This is called PURAKAM or filling in, in Sanskrit. REMEMBER ABDOMINAL BREATHING.
3. Now close both nostrils (ring + index fingers closing left nostril and thumb closing right nostril) and then HOLD your breath while counting 1, 2, …to 16 (FOUR times the amount of time you took to inhale). THIS IS KUMBHAKAM or holding breath.
4. Now release the right nostril and S L O W L Y exhale through your right nostril while counting to 8 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8). Make sure your left nostril and mouth are closed during this time. REMEMBER ABDOMINAL BREATHING. THIS IS RECHAKAM or emptying out.
5. After you have exhaled out, WAIT for 1 or 2 seconds (or count to 2 or 4). This amount of time remains constant even after 6 months or years of practice. THIS IS SUNYAM or void.
6. Now, inhale through the SAME right nostril while keeping the left nostril closed and while counting 1, 2, 3, 4. REMEMBER ABDOMINAL BREATHING.
7. Now close both nostrils (ring + index fingers closing left nostril and thumb closing right nostril) and then HOLD your breath while counting 1, 2, …to 16 (FOUR times the amount of time you took to inhale)
8. Now release the left nostril and S L O W L Y exhale through your left nostril while counting to 8 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8). Make sure that the right nostril is closed during this time, as is your mouth. REMEMBER ABDOMINAL BREATHING.
9. After you have exhaled out, WAIT for 1 or 2 seconds (or count to 2 or 4). This amount of time remains constant even after 6 months or years of practice

THIS CONSTITUTES 1 full Nadi Shodhana or Nadi Shuddhi pranayama. Now you repeat this whole process from steps 2 to 9 (after 1st time, no need for step 1) again and again for a minimum of 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening ON AN EMPTY STOMACH ONLY. If you forgot to do this pranayama before eating, then wait for 3 hours after eating to do it.

IF, WHILE DOING THIS PRANAYAMA, you feel breathless, STOP doing the pranayama, catch your breath and come back to normal and continue from where you left off.

IF, while doing this pranayama, YOU FEEL DISCOMFORT IN ANY WAY, ESPECIALLY IN YOUR CHEST AREA, S T O P doing this PARTICULAR type of pranayama (Nadi Shodhana or Nadi Shuddhi) IMMEDIATELY and DO NOT DO IT AGAIN. You may try some other lighter and easier pranayama UNDER the guidance of an EXPERIENCED yoga teacher and AFTER getting express permission from your physician.

If this Nadi Shuddhi pranayama is done for a daily minimum of 20 minutes (10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening) on an empty stomach, as long as you are healthy and comfortable doing this, you may start seeing positive results in your physical health and meditation practices as well as a general calmness.

This is how Nadi Shodhana or Nadi Shuddhi pranayama is to be done.

The highest and most peaceful I’ve ever been was from breathing… I was awakened and I intentionally made note to not ever forget that every thing I’ve ever searched, suffered and yearned for has always been right there inside of me all along 🙌🙌🙌

I really like the speaker's explanation of the science behind breathing.
I found the speaker's discussion of the different types of pranayama to be very helpful.
I was inspired by the speaker's stories of people who have transformed their lives through pranayama.
I appreciate the speaker's guidance on how to incorporate pranayama into my daily life.
I will definitely be practicing pranayama on a regular basis.
Overall, I think this is a great video that has a lot to offer viewers. It is well-made, informative, and inspiring. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about pranayama and its benefits.

For westerners who have never practiced any yoga whatsoever, be extremely careful. Take it very, very slowly. This is not a physical exercise nor should it be treated as competitive, even against yourself. Raising the kundalini can be a double edged sword. And kundalini psychosis is no joke, take it from me.

I have experienced this sometimes.... I went into dippression few years back and now joined some meditation classes. A thought then came into my mind one day that I will meet god one day after I die. then my mind replied > who are you then if you will die and body will lie on the floor? Then my mind realised No! I am not body! I am something else in this body! I try to be spiritual but lose my mind sometimes when I get attached to foolish things around me and get attached with amotions like anger, greed, lust.. then again I realise what am I doing!

I've experienced everything whatever is said in this video. Before getting to the equilibrium, your forehead aches a lot. But once you achieve it you'll feel like each and every cell of your body is dancing and this practice of pranayam becomes an addiction.
You'll feel like an outline is formed along your body.
Unfortunately I couldn't maintain consistency in practicing it.
This video has helped me in authentication that whatever I had been doing is safe. Because somewhere I would feel like I'm endangering my life as after you start doing this, all your old ailments get triggered to be healed up. I've gone through a lot of pain but yet didn't consult a single doctor because I knew all that was happening with me was due the pranayam I was doing.
Thank you so much for this video
