The problem is apparently I need a drive to install vmware tools, but every time I try to add the drive it gives me this error.

thanks my man, My issue was that. My damn keyboard wanted to do a update and made me click all sorts of options that I did not select. Since I dont have a cd drive I would get the BSOD and that is always scary even if im in a VM - the scary part was my actual Pc was giving the BSOD and yeah I dont have a cd drive. It did however have that checked and to boot on that. Thank you sir

My lap top hasn't a CD drive... It effect on my vmware when opening?

thank you for the effort but that does not solve the initial issue just sweeps it under the rug.... the question remains.... how to fix the pop up window when I am using the cd/floppy/ how? and be able to connect it

I just get a black screen and my entire PC hangs, cannot end any VM tasks, cannot power off the vm have to restart my PC. Fucking bullshit
