Throughout the Second World War, one of the most feared vehicles and tanks was the King Tiger, or the Tiger II tank. It had an incredibly powerful gun and weapon, but it would be plagued with reliability issues. But the Tiger II would fight on until the final days of the Second World War, and they had a last stand inside of Berlin as the tank would try to protect Hitler's underground bunker.

There were a few Tiger tanks that fought heavily against the Soviet Red Army, and they would destroy dozens of tanks. But eventually all of these vehicles would be knocked out or seized control of during the Battle of Berlin.

Martin Bormann was killed on the breakout on 2nd May1945 and his remains were found in 1973 near Lehrter railway station during construction work. I remember seeing it as a news item on the BBC news. The identity had been established by dental records and was confirmed in 1988 by DNA.

True Germany died with the King Panzers, todays Germany is merely an occupied territory with dozens upon dozens of US and Nato bases. True German spirit survives in German car engineering.

What kind of cannon was it equipped with? Was it a 88?

Large mass and armament does not always guarantee victory..

As the Tanks got bigger and more powerful the more they broke down, hey no problem they had shorter and shorter distances to the front line !

A classic lesson in how to make 3 minutes of material last 5:56!! So much repetition destroyed what could have been an interesting and informative video.

I've only recently begun to appreciate how Germany was doomed when the economic/industrial juggernaut of the United States entered the war. The King Tiger is widely considered the most advanced tank of the war. Germany manufactured about 1, 700 of them. The United States, on the other hand, manufactured 49, 000 Sherman tanks. The Tiger was good but it wasn't as good as 29 Shermans. It probably wouldn't have even mattered if Germany had eschewed pursuing the cutting-edge wunderwaffen and just built greater numbers of tanks and planes that were "good enough" although they might have held on a bit longer.

Interesting video. Which book are the photos of the knocked out King Tigers taken from?
