FTL: The Last Stand - Orchestrated

Time to face the rebel flagship. Are you ready? There's no turning back.

I had a lot of fun orchestrating this, it's one of my favourites from the FTL OST and I really wanted to give it a full cinematic feel, including some of the classic sounds from the boss which have been mocked up. Can you feel the battle progress?

"This is it... The rebel flagship. If you are able to destroy this monstrosity, the federation might survive.
There's no turning back!"

I first listened to this a few days ago. Originally, I was met with mixed feelings. "Oh, it's just an orchestral mix. No big deal." But over time, I listened more... listened deeper. I just heard the 'Power Surge' warning done with the low horns yesterday, and I burst out laughing. What a tiny detail, but one that made the song much more interesting. I thought that was it. Today, I'm listening to this song after beating the Flagship in my own game... and I hear the Flagship jumping out after the first surge warning.

What a masterpiece. You need more subs.

The federation and rebels literally slitting each other’s necks while the kestrel and the rebel flagship are just other somewhere away from the battle vibing to this.

I feel like this guy put at least one "systems damage" siren in this orchestration.

Step 1: Boot up Space Marine
Step 2: Play the final mission
Step 3: Play this song on loop
Step 4: Profit

I typically hate orchestrated mixes and other such 'remasters' as I tend to leave feeling they lacked the same sorta 'feel' of the original.

This one was a pleasant surprise, though, as I believe you did a stellar job at not only capturing the feeling of the original score, but also the feeling of what the song is used for. It just screams "finality", less a videogame's final boss and more a cinematic showdown at the end of some grand journey against insurmountable odds. Less a duel against a singular, larger-than-average ship and more a proper Last Stand against an army with numbers that blot out the stars.

Anyway, here's a like and a sub. Thanks!

"Sir! The Rebel flagship is over there!"

"What is it doing?"

"It's...It's playing orchestra, MENACINGLY!"

(I edited this as I realized my spelling error. Anyways, love this.)

Hearing this again makes me really hyped for Kestrel Adventures #40, the wait will soon be over and it'll be worth every second.

This orchestration honestly sounds like something Murray Gold would have put together for the earlier series of doctor who. Wonderful work

I actually teared up. No joke. And I don't know why. This came up in a random playlist as I was studying and I just had to stop because my mind just relived in a single instance all the hardships, victories and defeats in the long journey to battle the rebel flagship.
