Oh man. Thanks a ton for posting this! I spent a couple hours beating my head against a wall today trying to get the screen out of one of these for a customer's machine. Would still be trying if not for this video. I have never seen one like this; what a terrible design!

You are a genius my friend, I've been wanting to replace my screen on my HP Pavilion 15-cw0988na and have come across exactly the same problem, I didn't want to try too hard as my screen still works, I just wanted to try a better (IPS) screen as the colours on mine are terrible so didn't want to break the original in case the new one didn't work.

Thank you so much!!! Sept 2020. HP laptop 3 months old. Daughter stepped on it. The tape on mine was black. Shop wanted $75 to do it. We owe you, bruh!!

Finally a video explaining why I couldn't remove my stupid hp screen. Is the same adhesive used on the bottom corners of the screen? Thank you so much for this.

Thanks for this video. Need to replace the screen on a 15-CW0505SA. Thought it may be glooped in but glad to have a technique shown before brute force and ignorance took over! There seems to be more an more cases of manufacturers deciding "well if Apple can just glue their stuff in..."

top video, thanks. I hate that manufacturers are doing this. so irritating. I can say that if you dont have a heat gun, you can use isopropyl (someone else mentioned this earlier)...use a spudger to pull the screen out as much as you an then spray isopropyl down the back about a cm from the edge on both sides and wait...then you can pull it out a bit, then as soon as you can get some tweesers as per the video on the white stuff and pull it will come right out.

was certain there were adhesive strips, wasn't sure how many... thanks for the video and clarification. As for why it was manufactured this way, production cost cutting. Why retool an assembly line for a single design flaw when duct tape, super glue and or bubble gum would work... HP...

Hi, Thanks for the video, really appreciate it. I am trying to replace screen for HP Pavilion 15-cw1500sa touch screen, could you please help me how to remove screen from the beginning?

Yeah HP is so annoying for creating a screen like this. I'm in the process of taking the glue out from behind the screen.

Never would have figured that out - thank you for posting this. And now the second mystery - where do I buy the adhesive tape to mount the new screen? It's important that the replacement adhesive be super strong (since that's all that is holding the screen in, really) and has to be able to be removed the same way as the original. If you just use double sided foam tape that is strong enough, you'd never get the screen out again. So is this just industrial grade 3M Command Adhesive? Seems stronger than that.

Just use isopropyl alcohol directly behind the screen and wait 1 minute ... the glue will release slowly, keep using more alcohol if necessary.

Or, you just could start removing it with the tweezers from the bottom, you can easily acces the white film from above the screws of the hinges
