This is a guide on replacing an LCD on a HP 15 inch laptop Model# 15-dy1013ca

For the replacement process we'll need the following tools:
- a plastic pick
- and tweezers

To begin shut down the laptop and disconnect the power cord.

Now we can remove the bezel. Start from the left side. Gently pulling the inner edge
of the bezel away from the glass. Once the edge is unsnapped go around the perimeter
unsnapping the tabs underneath. Use a plastic pick when needed. Unsnap the bezel along
the hinge cover. Close the laptop and turn it sideways. Use a plastic pick to separate
the bezel along the bottom edge. Put the bezel aside.

The screen is held in place with two strips of double-sided adhesive, and there are
two plastic pull tabs that should allow you to pull the strips out. Using tweezers pick
the right tab and start pulling the adhesive strip away, releasing the right side of the
screen. Discard the used adhesive strip. Repeat the same action on the left side
of the screen.

Place the LCD on the keyboard. Peel off the tape securing the video connector. Using both
hands disconnect the cable. Discard the old screen.

At this point the new LCD panel can be installed. Place the screen on the keyboard.
And using both hands reconnect the video cable. Secure in it with a tape.

CAUTION! It is very important not to force any of the connectors. As well you must not twist
or slant the connector when plugging it in.

Your new LCD is likely to come with no adhesive. We offer standard double-sided strips
we have to thoroughly clean the surfaces, both on the LCD and the back cover. Use alcohol and a paper
towel or any other soft material.

Apply adhesive strips to the back of the LCD insuring that the pull tabs will be
accessible above the new screen. Remove the film from the adhesive. Lift the screen up and press firmly
along the edges to catch the adhesive.

At this point we can test the new screen. Press the power button and if start up graphics appear,
the screen is working and we can finish the replacement process. Turn the laptop off.
Remove the protective film from the LCD. Start replacing the bezel. Pull the hinge cover away
to make sure that the bottom side of the bezel is in place. Then go around the perimeter
pressing firmly until all tabs are snapped in place. Use one hand to support the back cover
while snapping tabs along the bottom side of the bezel. Close the laptop
and flip it over sideways. Make sure that the bezel is snapped along the hinge cover.

Turn the laptop on, and we are done!

Contrary to what the video says, be carefull and don't discard the tape behind the screen, it can be reused and is much better then anything you will buy online.

Thanks for sharing!! I saved hundreds without having to buying a new laptop!! I did struggle a little with the Connector. There was no pin to lift. And my pull tan tape was on the bottom corners of my old screen. And lastly, please have the screen in place befit you push the tape down. I had to pry mine back off

May want to pin this.

Advice from someone who followed this guide- when you get to removing the LCD cable from the old screen: there may be a very thin metal bracket just beneath the brass port you need to pop up with tweezers or the like. Should come out easily. It's connected to the metal connecter you're trying to take out of the port. Otherwise you'll sit there for 10 minutes on and off tugging that port wondering how you're supposed to be careful with it when it's freaking impossible to remove!

I ended up forcing the bracket to pop up without realizing it was there, and fortunately I managed to reinstall it on the new screen with no issues, but there's basically nothing keeping the cords in that port without it, so you're better off not risking damaging it doing it the way I did. Hope this saves anyone the frustration I had!

As for buying a new screen, the site they plug at the end is reasonably priced and the shipping options were fast and affordable. I took the 2-day and it arrived as promised, I also bought the adhesive from them and they sent spares! I'll use the site in the future if I ruin another screen.

Well I'm not saying this is the best I watched bunch of other videos. But about removing frame in the 1st part of the video, this was on point!

Thank you for the detailed repair guide! It was easier than I expected. I was able to reuse the rubber adhesive strips pretty easily, they seem to be high quality stuff.

Great instruction. Saved me a few hundred dollars in a new laptop for $60 piece instead.

Are the procedures the same for other HP 15 models?

I need to do this, but I might not have to replace the Screen, just Fix the video connector. It's been like this since I bought it and I should have just taken it right back and replaced it but I didn't because I was always using HDMI anyways. Now I like to utilize my laptop screen for television while I game, and everything will be fine and then absolutely no one will touch anything and the screen will just go black I can bend it back to some weird angle and it'll reconnect, but it's such a pain in the ass. I can't wait to get a desktop lol.

Two changes for me

1) do not stick that screen down until you know the screen is working again.

2) reuse the tape if you can as it’ll be better than else you buy online
