I always found it interesting that the credits version was played at a lower pitch. Because even though the war was won, the galaxy has still gone through so much death and destruction, it's sad.

I don't know why, but this version of the "Leaving Earth" piece just seems to be the better one, but they are both amazing and fits the tone of the game/series

The end of the long journey. I personally stood up and saluted when I read the last lines in the credits. I joined in 2009, two years after the relase of the orginal. Some of you have been on it ever since the beginning. The ups and downs, funny and sad moments, I was in that journey with all my heart.

The Extended cut destroy ending was awesome, I knew there would be heavy sacrifices and my Shepard was fully prepared to die for the cause! As it happens, he lived if you count the breathing scene at the end, I felt victorious and glorious having defeated that which has wiped out thousands of far more advanced civilisations than humans in the past, if the final fight was easy and there were no losses, it would have sucked!

The Reapers werent intended to destroy anything, they were originally created as a means of brokering peace between synthetics and organics. However, the catalyst hypothesized that the only means of preventing higher intelligence organics and synthetics from inevitably killing each other was to harvest both parties before they reached this outcome, hence the storing of there genetic and synthetic information in reaper form.
