Using STM it’s a 12 slice optimal case (11 ignoring equator), but you used face turn metric (less commonly used), where 28 is actually optimal in that metric (27 ignoring equator)

The mid solve parity algorithm is significantly shorter, parity isn't nearly as common as it is on big cube, and there is things you can do to avoid it altogether.

That said, if all fails and you get stuck with it at the end, it REALLY punishes you lol. I just finally started learning Square 1 yesterday and my god it's a learning curve coming from 3x3, and I'm sub 25 with full PLL and OLL...
