Day 29: This is Definitely One of My New Favorite Coloring Techniques! - 30 Days of Creativity

It’s Johanna Basford’s 30 Days of Creativity – Day 27!

I decided to give this Derwent Inktense hack another go, and I’m loving the results!

I’m using the Derwent Inktense Colored Pencils – But instead of using water, I’m blending them with an alcohol marker (a colorless blender) to bring out the colors without damaging my paper.

And wow, this works so well!

Derwent Inktense Colors: 0740, 0600, 0700, 0520, 0230, 1400, 1510, 1320, 1800

Howdy and happy day 29 — or 30 eve! Haha. That’s super cool, this technique is next on my list to try- for sure! Definitely my favorite “happy accident” kinda thing from this challenge. Look at ya trailblazing in the art community!! 😁

You can use waterbase colorless blenders as well with watercolor pencils. I like the Tombow one. They come in the packs sometimes with the colored markers.

Have you tried using rubbing alcohol in a water brush with Inktense pencils? It's not quite as intense of color as plain water but it also doesn't destroy or soak through the paper as easily so you can work longer. I'm very much liking the results myself.

How do you keep your alcohol marker blender clean

Have you tried blending the inkense with a tombow dual brush blender? I’m wondering if it would work the same.
