Kelly Drive crash: Rideshare passenger killed after driver makes illegal turn

A passenger in a rideshare is dead after the driver, attempting to make an illegal left-hand turn in Fairmount Park was hit by two vehicles, police sources say.

Had to remind my wife, don't get too dependent on that GPS..it gave them directions to go that route up a one way, somebody needs to look into that, even after the accident vehicles took that route while patrols tried to prevent that left hand turn

The left turn is illegal and the right turn would be a 180 degree turn. Close the intersection or put in controls. This intersection doesn't make sense and is a major hazard. Total incompetence in planning.

This is absolutely awful. Something that could have been avoided. I was is an Uber where the driver was looking at his phone on his lap while driving. I asked him what he was doing, he said looking at the map. I told him turn it off, I'll give you directions. Looking down at his lap, while driving!!

Well, I honestly think it's time for them to change the road itself. Some options: Add a traffic light; Close off most of that road entrance with dividers, making it next to impossible for drivers coming upon it to make a left turn. In the meantime, they need bigger No Turn signs and a traffic cam to mail a HEFTY fine to all those who ignore the signage.

I am always super careful when driving on either Kelly Drive or Lincoln Drive. No margin for error when you using those roads.

Why is there even a RIGHT lane on that uphill route? If the LEFT from the other road is verboten, and it appears to me that the only way onto that uphill right lane is from that prohibited turn -- then just close the right-lane.
It's already got double-yellows.
