You should have a look at the news reports on the Chinese ship that deliberately injured Australian naval divers who were in the water fixing their ship. Crazy stuff that takes the Chinese intimidation tactics to the next level

Here we see probably one of the greatest discrepancies between a braggart hubris global power and how the actual global super power operate. China isn't used to intercepting peacefully, they're not used to aerial encounters, they're not used to modern naval encounters either. Yet they want to try to "usurp" the US from the global super power role when they can't do something like peacefully patrol their shores or intercept in the airspace near their national boarders. They can't actually project any of their power, but that's who they want to beat and replace by doing none of the things the US has done besides try to copy the military tech and theoretical tactics.

My overall point is that China needs to focus less on trying to be the next USA and more on being the best China it can be, which is not the next USA. Does China need a nuclear powered, electromagnetic catapult aircraft carrier? No, not in the range of operations it's got. But it's only trying to achieve it because the US has them. Does China require a stealth air superiority fighter? If they're planning on starting a conflict, they will. But are they or are they just trying to one up the US at what the US is doing? I can only imagine what kind of innovation that 1.7+ billion people could come up with on their own, but instead they're taking the ideas of others, twisting them with their "native tech" and calling it their own invention. Sending spies to the USA isn't innovative and it's only because we're humane that we don't erase that issue all at once, just putting that on the record. We're humane enough to realize deleting an entire nation is immoral. Meanwhile China's rounding up Uigher Muslims into concentration camps, imprisoning people who speak out against them, and trying to destroy the nations of Nepal and because the USA had a dark history, doesn't mean that you repeating it in a similitude some how unlocks the "Global Super Power" skill path everyone's vaunting for.
