Wow as an IoT dev I thought before watching this video: "pfft, complicated method? I'm a POWER USER, if there's only some circuit board soldering, hex editing and/or assembly magic, it would be intimidating for those normies, not for me".

After watching this, well, I'm thinking about throwing away my self-proclaimed "power user" title...

I foresee some sort of mod where the chips are replaced with socketed equivalents and the sockets are soldered onto the board, allowing ease of removal.

I’m going to assume you can’t you someone else’s data from the chips? Because if you could then theoretically people could sell a kit to jailbreak it.

I'm not familiar with the PS4 PCB Layout and such, but I wonder if there is any JTAG points on the PCB as it seems like at the factory, they must be able to flash different chips and do diagnostics quickly. This method of desoldering large pin count chips and resoldering doesn't seem very practical. I hope a better method is discovered for quickly upgrading or downgrading FW!

I was hoping to do it on my jailbroken ps4 until the syscon chip came up unexpectedly, thanks for your hard work 👍🏼

Wouldn't it be easier to create a chip or device with its own Syscon that pressure sits on top of the one on the ps4's motherboard, with a toggle switch on the board to swap between each syscon?

(Ex: Swap between 5.05 syscon and 8.50 syscon) Similar to a "dual nand", but instead, a dual syscon.

It just makes more sense to me than removing the chip and replacing each time.

Thanks for your very useful tutorial. Previously, when the flash receiver IC had a problem, or in other words, the flash IC was empty, I injected the software again with the programmer.
