my ps4 wouldn't download the 10.50 update from my usb, even though it was properly formatted etc... I re-entered safe mode after 3 months and it allowed me to download the 10.71 update online for some reason, after the download and update my ps4 gave the same message "File cannot be used, connect a usb with ver 10.71....)(CE-34788-0) wtf?? Rinse and repeat and it still wont work >:(

If this doesnt work for you.
Start your ps4 in safe mode by holding the power button down until the second beep.
Then you can update from there over the internet no flash drive needed.
I had to initialize mine because nothing else worked.
