Tony dear, I picked up Boxing with 31 Years old after a 10 Year break from Martial Arts. Every night I watch your videos and practice with them, every day trainers and experianced figters tell me how good I am for such short time training all thanks to your videos. Thank you my friend for making this.

That reminds me of what the veterans used to tell me many years ago when I first started so I would relax more when I sparred: “You’re gonna get hit.” The tricks were to deal with it and make it as infrequent as possible.

Watching Canelo’s perfect defence yet constant forward pressure last Saturday was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.

I've heard veteran coachs say, "If you learn offense first, your defense will never catch up." And same thing about not learning footwork first.
I'm just starting boxing in my late 60s, my coach agrees with this and things are going well so far.

One thing I would add to this excellent video is that although it is good to be mindful of counters, being too focused on being countered can take the commitment away from your punches.
One of the best drills I've seen is holding a hand up to your face and waving it back and forward.
Naturally, you're going to focus on your hand. But if you focus on something just beyond your waving hand you'll notice a HUGE difference - this is how a fighter maintains focus on all the parts of the upper body that telegraph a punch rather than focusing on the hands.
This simple exercise improved my reaction time and skills more than any other single exercise in 25 years.

Thank you so much for your advice, guidance sir, been boxing since 93, boxing have save my life in law enforcement and the ring. One sport I truly respect, I have one question, when I was in the ring...my opponent came charging at me, aiming at my flowing ribs, I was sitting on the ropes, couldn't clinch, was trapped. Could you please show how to escape and counter and evade, im sorry guys im not as good as you

Always great stuff Tony! Love that quick Bruce Lee quote. What about a Footwork drill patterns video?
I've been watching alot of fight footage of Ali and Willie Pep. Their evasive footwork is just beautiful to watch. I've been trying to incorporate that into my training.

I've done some practice with the tennis ball, and I think it really improves your concentration and focus overall.
