HOW TO: build a modern barn door with chevrons!

I used 3/4” MDF laminated to 3/4” plywood. Using a speed square I created a chevron design and a trim router.

Been searching ideas, and this is the best one I’ve seen yet! Love the idea of routing the mdf rather than cutting/glueing/nailing a bunch of pieces. Thanks for the video.

The best part of this is the little kid siting on the project.

Looks sweet, and far better than what you could buy for twice as much.

Awesome vid and idea. Curious how the door is holding up. Looks like it's been 2 years since you posted. Also, do you think you could do this with just the 3/4 MDF or is the plywood back also necessary?

This is brilliant, nice job. I would like to make this for my motorhome. Can you tell me what size router depth you used for design?

This is absolutely outstanding! Curious: what would you say your total time commitment was on this build - start to finish, including install?

Great work and inspiring! Can i ask why you used both MDF and Plywood? and why not just 1 sheet of either? Would it warp without the supporting layer?

This looks awesome! Just subscribed. Can you give any helpful advice in making the chevron design? Or does it look more confusing than it actually is?
