No hardware - your wife noticing that patch was both funny and frightening. The ability to see such a tiny imperfection in the midst of all that other excellent work is a scary power. I pray for you sir...

LOL...the best part was your wife pointing out the tiny patch !!! That was hilarious man !!! Great job and very clean and simple system.

I didn't think I would like the no hardware. I was wrong. I love it. Funniest part of this video was when your wife asked "slow close?" and you're like "yea we don't mess around here" when in fact you didn't even realize you ordered slow close.
Ya did good. The door is beautiful.

The fact that she chose you, with her ability to see the tiniest imperfections, is a complete compliment.

couldnt stop laughing when your wife found the patch and your reaction was to block her out and walk away. you did a great job with the door and patching up the wall and ill definitely be looking into that shop locator if i ever plan to do any custom wood work

I love how proud you are of the drywall...doing something very well that you've never done before is more gratifying than doing something perfectly that you do all the time imo.

I love how excited she was about the soft close, and how quick you were to be like “yeah that was totally planned we don’t mess around” 😂 what a cool door dude I want to make one now

You managed to make a barn door, which was already pretty minimalist, even more minimalistic. I'd second guess myself if I saw this door and would probably think that it's just leaning against the wall. Absolutely love it!!

No hardware, it looks cleaner. Boy, your wife does have a sharp eye 🔥 No wonder your finish process is so meticulous 👏

I used to have a custom drapery business which included the custom work room. One thing I realized early on was NOTHING is perfect. We had a saying for picky customers, "A blind man would give the world to see that imperfection". Keep that in mind going forward with your amazing, one of a kind, wood creations!

No hardware, and that looks fantastic! I love how honest and down to earth you are in your videos. Even though I don't have the same tools, you feel relatable as a creator.

What a gorgeous door and from someone who’s had to do way more mudding than I ever planned on, excellent job with the drywall! Your new door is a work of art, with a graceful balancing of the wood grain on the various pieces. Like you, I’m happier with barn doors in barns and appreciate seeing how others install more elegant door systems. I work with basic tools so it’s fun to see the commercial equipment. Your butterfly inset to mitigate the end split is ingenious, thanks. That’s part of why I watch complex building projects, there’s always something that’s helpful for my basic woodworking and I enjoy improvising with what I have. I find it very true too… planting ideas to germinate in the mind of others can smooth things out a lot. Anxiety can be a tough one, the inner insecurity drives some to feeling a need for perfection. That was a skillful non-engagement response on your part. Thanks again for sharing your skills in showcasing living wood.

Love the No Hardware look. Wife walked past me while watching the video, saw the part with your wife opening and closing the door, said "That's what we're doing."

So, thanks for the extra work around the house.

No hardware, I think that it matches your home so much better than the old pantry door and it fits the general theme you have with your furniture and woodworking. Stunning Job!

I’m very OCD myself. The door looks fabulous! I’m sure your wife will always know the patch is there but no one else will every see it! I am an artist and many of my pieces don’t come out as I saw it in my head, but they sell well, which speaks volumes.

I’m late to the party but I like both styles of hanging. However, I like yours better bc it’s smooth, solid walnut and it looks beautiful!
Re: The old door: If anyone has ever tried to dust a rough wood anything, you’ll know what a pain it is bc, not only the dust, but also the fuzzies from the dusting cloth get stuck in the wood and it looks terrible. Whoever thought rough wood has ANY place in a home has never tried to clean it!
Re: The filled knot: you did an awesome job of seamlessly filling that knot hole, and should feel proud to point that out. You cd also ask, what wd they rather see? A clunky old knot? Or a seamlessly fitted and smooth replacement? Wood is organic; it has characteristics and you can’t get it without! 😊 TFS & keep up the good work! 😄
