Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth just had a stunning trailer at the September 2023 State of Play. Throughout this video, we provide a thorough breakdown of the major elements (and some of the minor ones)!

Double Helix is an interesting name for Cloud and Sephiroth's team-up attack since it refers to DNA, and that's a big part of FFVII with the various genetic experiments and the fact that Cloud and Sephiroth are genetically connected. Not to mention that DNA is the building block of life, and life is another big theme in the story.

Not only was Elmyra seen in the trailer, she was heard. The very first voice lines we hear are from Elmyra. This means we will interact with her again, likely Zack. Theorizing Zack will take Cloud to Elmyra to recover while Zack goes looking for Aerith.

I'm actually really excited to play as Cait Sith. Remake took characters I normally perma-bench like Barret and Yuffie and made them SO FUN to play as, I'm hoping Cait Sith will get similar treatment.

I dont think that's an infinity symbol, I think it's meant to be a chain to show they are doing the chain attack and are possibly locked into it, but the characters not locked in may still be able to have command inputs.

I completely missed Red XIII riding a chocobo, I love it. Considering the mechanics of Remake were great already I can't wait to play an even version of it, the combat just looks outstanding

I really think that in this version of the FF7 universe, Zack survived and brought Cloud with him to Midgar. As for how Cloud got the Buster Sword and Zack's whereabouts, I guess we'll find out. There was just too much emphasis on Zack and Cloud for it to be a parallel universe kind of thing. Methinks that Zack will make his appearance at the end of Rebirth during THAT scene.

It wont be but I'd be content if this was the last trailer we get of this game. It lowkey already showed to much. But this was gonna be an instant buy for me anyway, Remake was already an amazing game. Favorite action RPG battle system by far. If they never go turn based again, this should be the foundation for mainline FF games going forward

That scene with three Reunion guys walking into a tunnel looks like Kalm to me. If I remember correctly, there was an arched passageway in the northern parts of Kalm.

I am wondering if Tifa is in the life stream during this trailer or in water... plus that creature that passes by her might be emerald weapon? They were talking about a weapon during that scene too... I was also wondering if Cloud was in Mideel when he was talking to the doctor.

The scene that you show at 12:01 is Dr Sheiran from Corel. He is brought up briefly in Traces Of Two Pasts.
