fun fact most of the unrecognizable words on the side of packages are the scientific names of common ingredient.

"Hydrogenated Fat" is just a fancy term for "solid fats", i.e. margarine, so yes I would use that to cook with, if I made cakes/buiscuits for example and was out of butter.

All I got was that not all Ultra process foods are bad.

Thank you for not saying "aVoiD aLl cHeMiCaLs" saying "will you cook with this at home?" makes far more sense

It’s quite simple. If you didn’t kill it or pick it off the plant it grew on: it’s been processed.

I've never seen a Sainsbury's have so few customers! Except for when they're closed. (Former supermarket employee here)

The people that understood what you said, already know and don't need to be told. The people that do need the information, will never listen to you. They're busy listening to the "new manele 2024".

I'd love to hear your take as someone actually knowledgeable in this field on all the folk pushing raw milk and the sort. Of course most ultraprocessed food is bad for you, but is there any real claim to the gross bacteria-filled unpastuerised milk beint better for someone?

Does it come in a package? Then yes, it’s ultra processed.

"Processed" is such a scary and over used word in the nutrition world... and i hate it.
Everything we eat is processed (as in has gone through a "process") and YES that includes your labled, cleaned and shipped bannanas and butternut squash.

Rather than focusing on the very unachievable goal of cutting out all processed foods the focus should rather be on achivement a "complete nutrition diet" (whcih sounds scary but really isnt) purely meaning the consumption of a balanced diet that provides all of the nutrients the body needs to function properly (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). Because thats what REALLY matters to our bodies and brains. Not if buenno has over engineered expensive packaging or is cheerios are highly marketed.

Edit: and just because im petty about this topic... i dont think you use Emulsifiers: E471, E472e; Preservative: E282 regularly at home (which can be found in your wholemeal bread) or Stabiliser (Gellan Gum), Flavouring, Potassium Iodide (which can be found in shop bought soy milk)

Calling something "ultra-processed" seems like a fear mongering term.

The advertising claim is kind of silly as most people know what banana's or an apple is so they aren't going to be rolling out adverts for those. Saying farmers don't make enough is a fair point but do you really need to market for a normal piece of fruit or veg?

Is it vegan? It's ultra processed

If you need help knowing if what you eat is processed, then you probably have a care taker.
