Environment design was a game changer for me the first time I read about it! 👌🏼

Self-discipline is more about having a routine, less about willpower.

I like the dialogue in this short. Words carefully chosen and content masterfully crafted. Nice!

This is what i love about the human brain. On one hand you have the hedonic treadmill, where even a previous greatest joy will turn into "meh". On the other hand our ability to grow stronger allows us to take a previous painful experiences into "meh".

All emotional experience regresses to the mean with time and exposure.

This is why I move my furniture around. Haven't owned a TV since 2004. Don't keep sweets, chips or chocolate in my home. Trust me, it helps...

Great video…as a Canadian, I can relate to the feeling to want to play hockey as soon as I step into an arena

You don't need "willpower, " you need discernment. Everyone has willpower, but the problem is people don't know what's good and what's bad. If you see a bag of chips, you wont stare at it as your willpower battles over you. You'll make an excuse in your head for why it's okay to eat them, so that you can circumvent the willpower battle completely and feel good about yourself. Instead of willpower, you need to just understand that the chips are bad for you in the first place. Hope that made sense.

To anyone who has problems with this and can’t form healthier habits I really recommend you read the book „atomic habits“ by James clear if I’m not mistaken.
The entire book is filled with advice on how to break bad habits and build new ones

I never tried changing my environment. I thought it was only what's on the inside that matters. But I'm glad you proved me wrong.

Thank you, I needed to hear this!

I already knew this in theory. I noticed that other people [who don't WFH] have a dedicated office space to get their personal administration done. But somehow it just clicked that I really need to do that, too.

Bc I always wondered why I'm so focused and ambitious about hockey, or basically anything once I'm in my car. But with tasks I have to do at home I have a hard time fighting my ADHD and staying motivated. I've been wanting to reorganize my office [that has kinda turned into a storage room] for a while and I think that's what's needed to have a designated space to get those tasks done, instead of anywhere in my kitchen/dining/living area where I keep getting distracted, hungry or sleepy whenever I want to get my administration done.

I have the luxury of having way too much living space to myself and barely use two of the bedrooms, so it's time to assign them a function and do all the things there that I don't get done in my most frequented areas. Let's go! 😅

Soon, there is going to be the rapture. It's when there will be trumpet sounds, and after the trumpet sounds, God will lift his people from here. Also, God said people should be living by the Bible. Amen, and God bless you.

An interesting idea, but it’s also easy to walk into another room with all your “happy” stuff. If I truly need to get rid of tv, games, junk food, etc., I might as well go live in the mountains as a monk, because only having high work goals is super depressing and essentially trading one problem for another
