I love to write, but I confess I am pretty bad with grammar, " not as bad as I was". Now aged 44, I am swatting up about grammar and punctuation thanks to the use of Grammarly and trying to understand the reasoning for the punctuation mark suggestions it is highlighting. I am not sure if it was me lacking interest at school, not paying enough attention in English class, or whether I just had teachers that decided not to waste their time trying to teach me once I had misunderstood one time too many?. Either way, I love to learn and self-educate these days. It is amazing what you can learn when you decide to take an interest in a particular topic.

Really? I have been using a comer after "therefore" for a long time with countless pieces? Is this bad?

For some bizarre, but funny reason, this came to my mind:
Has anyone ever seriously thought about the character, "semi-colon" since "semi" means half, or 50%? _Seriously._ *Why* is it called a "semi-colon" ["half-colon"] anyway? The bottom 'comma' portion clearly uses more space than the the upper, 'colon' [plus SPACE] part therefore *it's MORE than just 'semi' [half]* ? Shouldn't it be more accurate to call it a "comma plus dot, " or, a "dotted comma" like we say, "dotted 'i'?"
