I think sometimes people don't want a do over. They did the marriage and kids thing. Even when you divorce, you have to continue to coparent, and a significant amount of compromise is necessary. Maybe some people are in a place where they just want to live for themselves. I know I will be. My son is grown, but I care for my Mom. When this time passes, I just want to be free. No more compromising, and for sure, no more complaints!! It's nice to have those romantic moments, but at this age, I know they are just moments. The rest of the time is subject to negotiation. I think negotiation is a more normal state for men, but I think after awhile women just decide to have a peaceful existence with their pets.
