Absolutely loving this series! Hadn't realised how much I'd been yearning for a synthesis like this (of Peterson and Vervaeke in particular). I read Maps of Meaning 20 years after it was published, watched Awakening from the MC 2 years after, and watching this 2 days after - closer to the cutting edge...

Thanks for your hard work, glad you have managed to recover from what you went through!!!

This is revolutionary stuff, thank you for illuminating the ideas of so many great thinkers for me and all those other who are listening attentively to these videos.

Great to hear Heraclitus here, been learning about Heidegger's later affinity for as well. For non-zero-sum games one may think sustainability and diversity. Life expands and recycles, and death is renewal.

This is a fantastic series Brett! I'm so grateful youtube's recommendations engine took me all the way from Jordan Peterson, to John Vervaeke and further on, to you. And thank you for sharing your insights in such a delightful way! Everything you say resonates with thoughts I've continuously been immersed in for the last 40 years!

A question for you: Are you familiar with Stephen Wolfram's concept of the Ruliad, and "rulial space"(It’s a fundamental theory of physics where "rulial space" is a vast universe of all possible rules, essentially forming a multidimensional space that contains every possible rule that could potentially describe the operation of a universe.), and do you see any connections between your work and rulial space?
Personally I see connections between rulial space and Predictive processing.
To connect these two concepts, one might argue that the brain's predictive processing mechanism is a kind of traversing through the rulial space. The brain explores different rules (or models of the world) to find one that minimizes prediction error. This isn't to suggest that the brain is consciously aware of all the possible rules in the rulial space, but rather that its process of learning and adapting might be viewed as a kind of search through this conceptual space. The "rules" it settles on would be the ones that best predict the actual sensory input it receives.
One could also hypothesize that evolution itself might be a kind of journey through the rulial space, with natural selection favoring those organisms whose brains are best at minimizing prediction error in their environments. This would essentially be an application of Wolfram's ideas at a different scale and in a different context.

"Darwin's Bulldog" was the biologist Thomas H Huxley, grandfather of Aldous Huxley [although I imagine that came back your mind before I wrote this].

Truth is the perfect symmetry of relationship, it looks the same from every angle, at every scale. Truth lives in the macro realm, the micro realm is uncertain. Truth lives in the past, the future is uncertain. The micro future is formed into the macro past through time which is pointing down. The process of entanglement. The direction of time's arrow is the breaking of the symmetry of the 'potential' of the boundary condition.
Meaning lives in the Goldilocks zone between the harmonic regularity of truth and the dynamic chaos of self referential noise.
