I leased my 21 Gladiator and if the Gladiator has no major issues during the lease period, I will purchase the Gladiator from the leasing company (bank). So far, I have had no issues whatsoever.

Excellent description of the pitfalls of leasing. I’d rather own my vehicles out right without borrowing. If I can’t afford it, then it’s no purchase; even if it means not owning a Jeep gladiator.

Leased my sr5 pre-runner extended cab extended bed everything, but I'm brutal on commute vehicles and went way over the milage. Plus my kids were in love with that truck. So after the lease we bought it. I think I paid 7 yrs on that stupid truck. Then traded it in for a hybrid (c-max) I had a few items in storage I needed a truck to haul. The whole thing was a mess and very expensive. What a good jig, though, Hybrid!

Rob, There is a lot of pride of ownership with a Gladiator and I just don't see how it would be the same if the truck was leased.

I leased with plan to buy out as it was more cost effective/less money in the long run vs financing. This is based on the lease deal I got, the fixed buyout, and what I estimated as my payment plan when I buy it out. I calculated it all out and this was a few grand less than financing it for 7 yrs. This is on a 58k truck. Pretty crazy how the math worked.

I think you’re a bit off on your lease facts. Let’s say you purchased your vehicle and had loan. If you took it to a dealer for trade they would look it over and deduct any flaws just like the lease inspector would do. If you trade before you finish the loan you would owe money. I turned in my GMC truck early one time and expected to get a large penalty but the lease company took it to auction and mailed me the difference of my payoff and the auction price that was over $800.
Find a vehicle with a really high residual like my Gladiator at 76 percent for 39 months a don’t worry about it.

Terrible rust issues, very disappointed. Hinges and now in behind the rear tail hooks. Jeep can't keep up with the warranty claims. Stellantis is truly the 3 stooges!
