In this video we explore the magical Balkan country of Bulgaria. With over 6000 thousand years of history, Bulgaria is one of the oldest countries on earth and one of the oldest continually inhibited place in the world. As everyone from the Romans, Celts, Slavs, Persians, Greeks, and Ottomans wanted a piece of its land. We go through this country's vast history and explore its not so well known towns and cities such as Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, & Burgas.

This is a censored reupload, as the last video got age restricted for god knows what reason. Thank you for your support! And I hope this one doesn't meet the same fate

Great video, just one correction - Bulgaria is not one of the least visited countries in the Balkans, it's actually the most visited after Greece and Turkey. In 2019, 12.5 million people visited Bulgaria (which is almost double its population).

Half of my (Greek) village's original population came here from a village in the Black Sea coast, near Burgas, Sozopol. I'm really fond of these places and would like to visit one day

I finally arrived in Bulgaria to stay here long term(ish). And when I tell my story to people I get the same response:
But why? WTF? That's dumb? Bulgaria, really? I would give everything to leave! etc...
lol. I love it here!

I went to Bulgaria in 2020, just before the 'rona.

Great country, I'd go back. The Rila monastery is also superbly beautiful, I'd recommend a stop there for the Orthodox faithful. There is also a very beautiful Church in Plovdiv, St. Paraskeva, it's situated just on the edge of a hill, lovely little community there with a beautiful Church - I believe it dates back to the 18th century, but it's truly something.

I appreciate the effort you put in the video!

In all honesty, you cover 1% of what Bulgaria is. It's so much more complex than that..

Anyways, a few things to mention:

- Bulgaria is the third most visited Balkan country, after Greece and Turkey.
- Plovdiv is one of the most economically booming zones in the Balkans. Its population in reality is around 800k, not 350..
- Bulgaria is one of the most powerful IT hubs in Europe
- Life in Bulgaria is extremely underrated. People often have a higher standard of life compared to the West without realising it.
- "Even nature" I cite you. Bulgaria has amazing and very diverse nature for its size.
- A Brit, moved to live in Bulgaria, applied for Bulgarian citizenship opened my eyes. He saw what we have, what most of us take for granted.

It is a national trait of Bulgarians to be Bulgarophobic. They often leave in a pursuit for a better life, only to have abandoned a good one and embrace a new, miserable one. "Grass is always greener on the other side"

It's all the same everywhere in the this sense - your success depends entirely on you and no government, no laws and whatsoever.

You could say that reality in the Balkans is quite similar with some local variety but if you want to make your life good, you can do it 100x easier here.

I can write so much more, but I'll end here. An appeal to my country folk: if you're Bulgarophobic and don't live here, don't even try to bash what we have. Some of us are here and fighting for what we should have.

Thank you all!
(Btw, these rules apply to all Balkan countries)

Much love to all my Balkan brethren!!!
