Interesting. My question is, who dictates that? Who says, you have to do this, that and the other? Is it their team, management? Or the actors themselves? Does it say something about the times we live in, to require that everybody needs to look perfect?

I don't see the point. If you are a singer, people pay for the singing. Actors have a limited window to be leading men or women, so there is no point doing plastic surgery in order to play someone's parent or authority figure. Being a character actor wanted for many roles in productions would be better for the bank account and long term employment until they decide to retire or pass away. M Emmet Walsh recently passed away, he looked like a horse's ass but he worked steadily.
One thing I have noticed is that those doctors who do the plastic surgery look rather ugly i.e they don't do anything to improve their looks. I wouldn't go to that man as he is his own worse advertisement.
