I understand the lady's opinion but most people aren't blaming the work crews. Most of are blaming the board members at Centerpoint

Let's not forget that this unnecessary damage was caused by CenterPoint and its refusal to maintain the PowerGrid after Hurricane Ike hit in 2009. 10 dead from hyperthermia and 2 million people with no air- conditioning for days and weeks in some cases...

Centerpoint is not proactive they are reactive. I'm an electrical contractor, and numerous times I have pointed out defects in their system or potential sources of fire. Only to have their representative asked me "is it on fire right now". Every phone number they have except for the main line goes directly to a voicemail where you leave a message and hope they call back within a week. The new CEO left the last company he was at with a bunch of dead bodies so I don't imagine it's going to get any better anytime soon. Look into the people that burned to death in Paradise California due to faulty transmission lines sparking a fire.

They should have been maintaining things on a regular basis during regular working hours since the last hurricane to ensure this didn't happen when this hurricane hit.. guess they didn't think that was priority or important to add to the regular workload even though I think them for everything they do this should have been handled better in their everyday workload it's part of what you call maintenance.

Do we have to keep Centerpoint ? Can we get another energy provider ? Honestly, turning our power off during the day, in the August heat, sounds like Centerpiont wants to make it hard on us since they have been given a deadline.

Center Point chose the worst time of the year and the hottest afternoon, to stop the power in order to "fix"; I'll see that as a revenge, political pressure to the Governor's deadline.

Fall is right around the corner and it’ll be cooler. They should’ve been had it done. Lazy bums.

Centerpoint does a phenomenal job at not providing electricity.

Can't satisfy them either way. The company is doing upgrades now while hurricanes are active, if they wait and another hurricane hit the residents gonna say they did nothing to prepare. Can't win for losing.

They had a contracted trimming crew come and they literally cut one small branch and let . Had a whole big boom truck and cut an insignificant limb. huge waste of time and money. They were using a harbor freight limb trimmer

This saddens me that this is happening when they're a lot of children who need to be housed near their school. But the waiting list is horrible are so far away from the school. It's not good for my asthmatic grandchildren are at the end of school they they have to return at home to a hot home.

Mixed emotions? I’d imagine a majority of the emotions are pretty similar, not happy. If you’re going to cut the power during dangerously hot times you got to let people know. Especially if it’s for any real length of time.

I work in commercial building maintenance. We have to turn off electricity or water occasionally for repairs and to install better equipment. People who have no clue complain the loudest.

People: Government do something!
Governor: Places a deadline on CenterPoint to do massive upgrades in under two months.
CenterPoint: Does what the governor wants and starts working.
People: Why so many planned outages during the summer?

Can’t please everyone. Remember what their CEO said to the senate? Around 60% of the trees fell from outside the CenterPoint easement onto the power lines. That means the real fault was on the individual people who didn’t maintain their trees, but no one wants to accept responsibility. They all want to pile on the utility company. Now people complain that the workers should do electrical work in the dark?!? I bet a significant number of these complainers were the type to protest trimming their trees before Beryl. Hypocrites, the whole lot of them.

Bad management. Regulators not doing their job. Power being off for 4-8 hours is a long time in such heat. Even worse for those who had no advanced notice.
