Bret forgave Goldberg until Goldberg had another stint which made Bret Hart bitter

I think it’s natural to have strong feelings towards the guy that ended your career prematurely. I really sympathize for something like that. Bret can stay mad at Goldberg, Goldberg can continue to be unbothered

One thing I don't think people appreciate enough is that Bret had a stroke. A common neurological symptom is anger or fixating on things. Bret's difficulties forgiving Bill isn't a normal behaviour for most people following an accident (see Droz) and I suspect this could be a big factor in the feud. Bill should try to forgive Bret even if Bret can't forgive him, because the chances are that he can't help it.

What made Bret bring it back up is when Goldberg returned in 2016 for one final run that made Bret even more bitter

It was a mean kick, and it concussed Bret, but it wasn't the only factor in finishing Bret's career. Bret wrestled numerous times after this kick, even taking part in matches that had weapon shots, which saw him stacking up concussions. It was Goldberg's kick that was the initial trigger, but if Bret had been able to rest up, it wouldn't have finished his career. It's not just on Goldberg, it's on that old school mentality of working through shit you shouldn't be working through.

I think part of it may be that it was someone who still couldn't wrestle, but got pushed further than anyone else, and continues to be.... while Bret and his whole family lived and breathed the sport and now he's on the sidelines watching this guy still go... that's hard to do.

Goldberg's whole career was a series of "accidents" I don't any were intentional, but rather just his clumsy incompetence in the ring.

Offcourse, Brett will be salty because he was on the receiving end. Goldberg would behave the same if he was injured

Bret also wrestled hardcore matches for weeks after the concussion

As far as Brett still being mad i'll turn to a quote that really helped change my perspective. "Resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die". Thats what resentment is.

He's definitely not wrong in that last sentence. Goldberg 110% is the kind of guy who would admit to trying to hurt someone

People forget Hart hit his head on The cement outside the ring first then after this match dude still wrestle 19 more times

Why does he keep emphasizing how he didn't do it on purpose? Everyone knows it wasn't on purpose. The point was you were careless in the ring and couldn't work.

Also side note, BRET CONTINUED TO WRESTLE AFTER THE KICK. he even continued to wrestle Goldberg a couple times and Kevin Nash too (his finisher is a powerbomb talk about wrenching your neck). If Bret Hart had listened to his doctors, perhaps got a second opinion, rehabed it correctly maybe just maybe his career wouldn't have ended. Perfect examples of similar injuries that didn't end careers though were told they were ended: Bryan Danielson, edge, and sting.

I met Brett years ago and talked with him in a private setting with mutual friends. He was not as bitter over all as he appears today. I don't feel Bill deserves the flack he has gotten.

Goldberg is starting to look like one of those old timers in the barbershop on Coming To America.

I just don't know how that ended Bret's career though. I've seen UFC fighters get KOd in the most brutal ways and then go on to fight for years after it. Michael Bisping's KO loss to Dan Henderson being a prime example.... Bisping fought for another 10 years after that, becoming champion and he was brutally knocked out cold. Bret didn't even look like he was hit that hard

Wonder if Bret kept that same energy for his own brother who temporarily paralyzed Austin and gave him lifelong neck problems for Owens recklessness

People don't often seem to remember though that even though goldberg's accident concussed bret. Bret against his own will knowingly being concussed continued to wrestle with afterwards with an active concussion. bret wrestled for a whole 3 weeks afterwards instead of taking his time to be like "hey im concussed i need to heal up." so yes Goldberg's mistake did concuss bret, but Bret being himself chose to against his own judgments ignore taking his time to properly recover from the injury. If bret had taken a week or two off to bounce back He fairly probably would of been wrestling for a much longer time. I think bret holds alot of animosity for something that to be fair was a 50/50 dance to what happened. Goldberg wasn't very ring prone to begin with, and with bret running off of the ropes, and not having time to stop short i feel there was a total misjudgment of distance, and what happened happened. Brets entire family at the time lived and breathed the wrestling business. his entire family tree's legacy of wrestling in canada is only superseded by the Samoan legacies. He hates the fact he couldn't continue to do what he loved

The thing is, is that Goldberg is not an outlier here. This shit happens all the time. Accidents happen yet bret hart is the only wrestler who goes around griping on the other guy yet the other hundreds if not thousands of wrestlers who have succumb to in ring accidents don't blame the other wrestlers because it's part of the sport and accidents will happen regardless of your experience.
