Those changes. That phrasing. I love how as the B section (?) ends, the key and melody helix back to the tonic for the A sect. And the simple rythm keys on the "and".

All I can think is what lyrics would Fagen put to this song. Probably seedy and sarcastic which would fit in perfectly with this beautiful melody of instruments.

Wonderful string arrangement, too! As great as Sanborn is, I don't think his alto sound is a good fit here. Too harsh and edgy to my ear. But hey, his agent got him the gig and he nails it.
