Technically the 2008 Tesla Roadster is the fastest car ever, since it is orbiting the sun at 25, 000+ miles per hour, and it has an unlimited range for the next million or so years until it collides with another planet, moon, or space debris.

1/4 mile in 8.8s is not drag-race time, its substantially faster. Most hypercars/sportscars struggle to do it in under 10s. Has 9 seconds even been beaten by a road legal production car? $200K is a crazy low price

I love how Elon Musk spooked the auto industry, especially European automakers, into taking EV's more seriously. For decades they kept screaming "nobody wants electric cars!" And for a while they were right. Then Tesla came along and started stealing a lot of their customers away, forcing them to design their own EV's lest they lose more sales.

Now they brag about how they're coming out with a "Tesla fighter/killer" EV, that will totally beat Elon at his own game. Then Elon nonchalantly introduces Roadster 2.0...
