This is exactly what I was just explaining to someone the other day! It taught me to be gentle with myself. once I found out my brain is wired in the same way as my early diagnosed daughter, I found an even deeper bond with her. I decided to do the opposite of everything I experienced as a child so she didn't have to grow up like I did.

I had a service provider tell me “You’re in your 30’s, you’ve survived without a diagnosis”

I replied “Not well, my entire life has been a struggle.”

She didn’t have a response for that. She also didn’t have any appointments. I’ve been seeking diagnosis for years and have yet to find a provider that doesn’t exclusively work with children.

My story is far too sad & complex. Suffice to say I was always the “different one” & was PA’d for it. Since then 2 of my sisters have been confirmed to have ADHD, which makes a lot of sense for me, but I believe there some high functioning areas that cause other daily challenges. I have been waiting over a year for my ADHD referral appointment - I was told last week I have ANOTHER 4 YEARS TO WAIT!!!! 🤯

My parents fed me health food. We were not allowed to eat sugar and my mom cooked our meals from scratch. There is no Lime disease carrying ticks where I live. My mom said that I didn't like being touched when I was a baby. Brain scans show changes before birth in children later found to be autistic. Gut biome is found to be different in newborn babies later found to be autistic (in a large Swedish study).

Just because your eyes are close together doesn't mean you're autistic. I'm just kidding. We are all on the "spectrum" and it's more of a super power. In my amateur opinion, we should learn to channel this so called autism into something productive. Instead we are told we have a problem and we should take drugs. It puts a cap on life. My son is on the long end of the spectrum and he has trouble in class. So yes a diagnosis can help in more extreme situations but if you are making a coherent YouTube video then you aren't in the long end of the spectrum. You will be ok.
