Kia e-Niro: Worst Edition

Kia's first 900 e-Niros in the UK have some really annoying omissions including (and yes, it’s a ‘first world problem) NO APP. This is despite new ICE Niros (and the e-Soul) having it.

Time to cancel my order and get that Model 3? Or the new Leaf?

Despite typical UK under spec, I ordered an e-Niro on 9th January and was told April 2nd delivery . The UK is not known as Treasure Island for nothing - no matter what you buy, we're always ripped off and the car industry are past masters at ripping us Brits off. I have got fed up of no information from either Kia or the reseller about when it is actually going to arrive or if an order actually exists. So with with 8 days to go, seemingly no-one knows what is happening, absolutely incredible - the car industry in the UK needs a shake-up especially surrounding EV's

E-Niro and Ioniq first edition are nice cars for their age. The battery is really good, tests are showing very little degradation.
You can change the bulbs to LED, and you can pre-heat by setting the departure time and step into a warm car when plugged in to the charger.
But the evolution goes on, new technology is coming every year so. 😊

Waiting for mine too😀 Even without the goodies it is still the best option at the moment value and range wise.I don’t think the first edition will depreciate as much as you think. My ideal EV would be the Model Y long range version but who knows when that will ever make it to UK.Its a brave man that buys a Model S out of warranty!

When I ordered my e-Niro (4 weeks ago), I was told that it was probably going to be 3rd 1/4 of this year. Even though it is only the 2nd e-Niro my local dealership has sold. They have since sold a bunch more and have had to tell customers that they will probably not get their cars till 2020. So if you do get your car early this year, you could probably use it till you can get the Tesla and sell the Niro without losing anything on it. Such is demand, you could probably get all your money back.

Spoke to a Kia guy at 2019 FCL, who said in a couple of years, there could be an update. But it would be cosmetic outer styling changes only.

So still no plans for the UK spec. to have:
an app
rear cross traffic alert
blind spot monitoring
LED headlights
heated rear seats
ventilated front seats
electric front passenger seat
no upgrade of onboard charger
12v socket in boot
USBs for rear passengers
power socket for rear passengers

It depends in which country the eNiro is bought, as to what the buyer gets. In Asian, mainland Europe and USA, you get it all. In Ireland there’s LEDs all round. But as you say, if you want a much lesser vehicle for more money. Buy a UK spec’d eNiro.

Hey Mr. EV I have the same vehicle and don’t you wish you knew some of the problems you thought you might have turned out to be non-issues.

Am waiting also for Model 3. Everything else except model 3, IPace or Etron will invoke strong emotions of buyers remorse.
