I am a landlord myself so I wanted to share the top 5 annoying tenant habits and also strategies for both tenants and landlords to avoid running into these issues.
Having a smooth landlord tenant relationship is key to successful buy and hold real estate investing.
Investing in Real Estate is a great way to build wealth and obtain financial freedom through passive income from your investments. However, it's not easy and it's not a get rich quick strategy. It takes dedication and lot's of persistence.
But if you know how to avoid some of the common pitfalls of being a landlord you are more likely to succeed as a real estate investor.
Real Estate investing seems glamorous when considering it's one of the most common ways that self made millionaires have made their fortune. Indeed it is a great way to make millions and become a millionaire yourself. But once we get past the high level appeal and down into the weeds of what it really means to be a real estate investor we find that there are many common tenant habits that make being a landlord more difficult that we first imagined.
For example, tenants often fail to understand when the rent is due by confusing the due date with the grace period. This can lead the the landlord feeling compelled to reach out and ask for the rent. Which landlords don't like to do. Another examples is that Tenants often hold the key to the house hostage upon their move out. They think they can use it as some sort of leverage to negotiate for their deposit back. It's very frustrating when this happens. Also tenants can be very dishonest, well some tenants can be anyway.
