Another big concept for patients and providers to educate themselves about is the difference between nociception (the "noxious" sensory input and perception) and pain (the interpretation of "danger" signals including nociceptive input by the brain, based on an individual's expectations and experience/context). Nociception and pain often go together, but can and do occur separately.

Hi, I would like to make a request for a video explaining the risk factors and prevention of shoulder dystorcia and management in case it happens and the providers are not around. I have read some research about it but it would be highly appreciated to get the entire picture. With my last home birth my baby his head was born but "got stuck" with his shoulders and the midwife tried aome kind of manoeuvre which helped him turn and be born. I know I am at a higher risk for expetiencing this again with future births. I hope to see a video or a podcast about it. Thanks.

On a minor note, I have heard a few people refer to ACOG as the American “Congress” of Obstetrics and Gynecology instead of the American “College” of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I am a medical doctor and am not aware that they were changing the terminology nor can I find any evidence that they have. Just curious where you got “Congress” from...I’m not an Ob/Gyn so maybe I’m just out of the loop lol
