To me what is nonethical isn't the fact that a 200$ sub exists to increase OpenAI revenues, but the fact that this non-profit company changed its rules after receiving massive donations !

I think OpenAI just trying to use a marketing strategy called anchor pricing. Which setting a 200$ look very expensive and very few will pay for it, then if OpenAI introduce something lower than that, people will believe it is more acceptable.

Eventually all AI providers will raise prices. They are giving us access to models for cheap right now in order to hook us onto their products. Once we depend on them so much I can see them charging hundreds of dollars a month. They have to make money at some point, this phase of investing billions without making big profit cannot last forever.

Hard to imagine one LLM being so much better than your typical LLM that you'd pay $200/mo for it. I currently use Claude and Copilot and they work just fine.
