How to make cinnamon pretzel bites with 2-Ingredient dough!

These little pretzel bites are so so delicious 😍 They remind me of the Auntie Anne’s one!

This 2-ingredient dough is a great substitute if you want something super quick and easy or don’t want to use yeast 🙌

The dough is dipped in butter and coated in cinnamon sugar… I mean it doesn’t get much better than that 🙊

All you need is👇

Dough:
180g Greek yoghurt
150g self raising flour

Bicarbonate of soda bath:
2 tbsp bicarbonate of soda
300ml boiling water

Egg wash (whisk together with a fork):
1 egg
1 tbsp water

20g melted butter

Cinnamon sugar:
50g granulated sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Bake 170C (fan) 12 mins or until they’re light golden brown - best served warm

I made these today after seeing the recipe on my YouTube starting page. I was a bit sceptical as it looked almost too easy, but these tasted amazing! Made half the batch with cinnamon sugar and served the rest with warmed Nutella to dip into. Thanks for the recipe!

*Recipe:*

*Step 1*
_180g_ Greek yoghurt
_150g_ SR flour
Mix into a dough and cut into 4 pieces

*Step 2*
Place on floured surface and roll into a long rope, then cut into 1 inch pieces.

*Step 3*
Boil _300ml_ of water and add _2 TBSP_ of bicarb soda
Soak pieces for 20 sec and drop off the excess

*Step 4*
Place on baking tray
Brush over egg wash

*Step 5*
Bake at 170°C fan forced for 12 minutes or until golden brown

*Step 6*
Coat in _20g_ melted butter
Cover in _1 tsp_ cinnamon and _50g_ granulated sugar (mixed together)

*Step 7*
Serve with caramel sauce or however you wish

I just made these they were ok they still have a small Greek yogurt flavor and they still weren’t fully baked after 20 min but they were alright

For vegans or lactose intolerant peeps, you can probably substitute the yogurt with any non dairy milk or yogurt alternative as long as you get the consistency correct by playing around with the proportions, and you can substitute egg with dairy free margarine

Ingredients:
180g Greek yogurt
150g self raising flour (+ extra to flour the surface)
2tbsp bicarbonate of soda
300ml boiling water
20g melted butter
50g granulated sugar
1tsp cinnamon

1) Preheat your oven to 190°C/ Gas Mark 5/ 170°C (fan).

2) Add the Greek yogurt and self raising flour to a bowl and mix to form a dough.

3) Cut the dough into 4 pieces.

4) On a floured surface, roll each piece of dough into a long rope.

5) Cut the ropes into 1" pieces.

6) Add the boiling water to a pan and add the bicarbonate of soda.

7) Soak the dough pieces for 20 seconds in the water.

8) Place them on a baking sheet.

9) Brush them over with egg wash.

10) Bake for 12 minutes.

11) Coat the pieces in the melted butter.

12) Add the granulated sugar and cinnamon to a bowl and mix them together.

13) Coat the pieces in the cinnamon sugar.

14) Enjoy!

Made it. Very good! I did not taste the greek yogurt. To my pleasant surprise, It comes pretty close to my favorite pretzel places. I did have to bake it longer than 12 minutes but i just watched it till it browned and came out perfect. Will be a staple for me now!

Okay a bit of food science knowledge if you’re genuinely thinking about trying this: yogurt doesn’t have enough of the bacteria the dough needs to be airy and fluffy like most good pretzels are, sure this recipe technically works, but if you altered the recipe slightly by adding 1-2 teaspoons of yeast and allowing the dough to rest for 30 minutes up to an hour you can create soft, fluffy, and airy pretzels. How to cook that by anne readon tried this recipe out (the recipe was claiming it would make a soft fluffy and wash loaf of bread) and it turned out to be terrible, dense, and not good one bit. Not saying it’s impossible to make “easy pretzels” but please know that these two ingredient recipes are sometimes a sham and for breads and such you should be looking for at least 3 ingredients because that’s the basic amount it takes to make a basic (and kinda sucky) loaf (yeast, water, flour). My personal recipe for breads includes yeast, sugar, salt, flour, water. Sometimes I add butter to make it a soft and buttery tasting dough.

They were great! Is there an alternative for the Greek yogurt though? There was a slight aftertaste!
