Thanks to this video I just fixed my wife's iPhone 5S with a smashed screen - for free, using a screen from an old iPhone SE which is compatible. Great guide. But be careful the 4 screws which hold down the metal plate over the screen connectors are all different lengths and need to be put back in exactly the same positions as they came from.

I was like "Why is Cnet uploading how to fix videos" then after watching I found that it's actually useful since it's teaching people that Apple is making it a LITTLE easier to replace LCDs. I used to fix iPhone 4/4s screens back in high school for my friends and teachers, was a long process that took 20-30min just to take it apart. This seems much MUCH easier.

I take very good care of my phone I had a glass screen protector and a life proof case on this thing but I dropped it and to my luck the entire screen shatters in talking I can barley even see what in typing right now it sucks cuz I invested so much money in protectors and it didn't even save my phone I can't how smashed up my phone is so idk what to do change the screen or wait and get a new phone.... Pisses me off Ggg when I try to protect something it always gets broken and I end up wasting money

i have a smashed iphone 5 with me the on button dosent work very good you have to push hard to turn it on, when the phone used to turn on if you push a little hard on the screen it will make a noise like the silent button is going on and of, THE FRONT CAMERA DOSENT WORK, but since the start of may near my birthday its hasnt been turning on and i thought just to keep it just in case some one could help me so could you help me???
