I have to say ... this is VERY impressive! Sure it didn't turn out professional quality, but you still managed to etch a PCB using laser print quality and LIGHT as opposed to the toner transfer method which is just awful in my opinion. Very nice job and excellent video!

I only build my own boards to test a prototype for low cost. I know I'm going to upgrade the board, so it's not worth having it made until I work out the bugs. But I just "tin" my boards, but I'm aware of the risk of short circuits. I think this silkscreening method is PERFECT for prototypes!
Thank you for this video!

That’s pretty good! Thanks for sharing your process. Especially the solder mask and silk screen.

The issue is your exposure/shadow mask isn't opaque enough. Print it twice and stack them. This will make it impervious to light. I'd also use acetate and not paper+oil. Oil will lift the mask off the surface and you'll get light creep around the edges of a shadow mask.

20 years ago, we were making PCBs at home, especially my friend was a pro. We were making PCBs at home and install in factories and other commercial projects. We certainly had some interesting challenges in using one side ( lots of jumpers :)). Also odd behaviours in our fast switchings circuits due to imperfections in our PCBs. In our old good days, there was not much choice than do it yourself or being ripped off ;)

Thank you for putting up such an honest video out there. It is an expert show with all the usual shortcomings that usually happen in the workshop. Make it more real and valuable.
